Closer with AdSense! What is the CTR, CPC, RPM, etc.

Posted by Hanya on 1 Feb 2015

I admit that until now AdSense is the best PPC program for publishers The best in the sense that AdSense always give me the most expensive bid RPM

How to Read AdSense
First I will explain the terms that exist on the tab, Performance Reports. To be able to read the report, then at least we should know what it Estimated earnings, Page views, Book, Page CTR, CPC, and RPM.
google adsense

Page views
Page views here are not the same as page views were obtained from Google Analytics. Because the intent of Page views on AdSense here is the number of ads that appear on our blog page being viewed by each UV (Unique Visitors).

This means our blog visitors could have just one person, assuming he IP address that does not change. But if the visitor continues to read every article on every page of our different then the page views will continue to grow as well. Refresh will also be counted as a single page views.

What are the benefits of high Page Views? This is my opinion, so it may not be appropriate. During this time, when a blog has a great pageviews, ads that appear are various. The diversity of the ads that appear on our blog that resulted in the increase in bidding for the CPC.

CTR (Click Through Rate)
When reading the term CTR, my mind is always mixed with games CTR (Crash Team Racing). In konsteks AdSense CTR is the ratio of the number of ad clicks with page views. Remember, not page views the entire blog, but page views which we discussed earlier.

Here is a formula or formula used to determine the CTR of a blog.
ctr

The higher the CTR, the better. That is the blog that you manage to have a good effectiveness of display advertising. During click obtained is the result of a natural, high CTR will not be a problem.

The problem is when a blogger or blog owner to click on the ads on their own blogs, though bloggers are already hide IP / etc, but still, Google AdSense sophisticated system can recognize the pattern.
Subtle punishment, the blog will be exposed smart pricing and weighing punishment is banned.

Smart Pricing
Smart Pricing is a feature designed to advertisers so that they do not incur huge costs to click on ads that are presumed not natural or accidental clicks (clicks exchange). Smart Pricing will make the value of the bid from the blog are exposed to low.
You can read more about what the Smart Pricing.

CPC (Cost per Click)
I guess from the name alone is obvious, CPC stands for Cost per Click. CPC shown in statements showing AdSense is the average of the overall CPC.
By knowing our blog CPC, we can put up the price to offer if we want to advertise directly. Remember that the publisher AdSense revenue share is 68% and 38% for publishers to AdSense.
To know our AdSense revenue share, by heading to Settings> Accounts> Account Information. CPC value could be higher if many Advertisers who wish to advertise on our blog.
Page RPM (Revenue per Thousand Impressions)

RPM is almost the same as eCPM, just eCPM calculate pege views of the blog, while the RPM count page views of the ads displayed. With RPM, we can find our blog revenue per thousand ads from appearing.

Formula to get RPM is as follows:
rpm

For example you see that RPM for today is 2.0 USD, that is, every 1,000 times the ads that appear, you will gain approximately 2.0 USD. That way you can see a picture of what if you have a bigger impression. RPM is not revenue that we receive, but the estimated revenue if the ad appears 1000 times.

How do I increase the RPM? How to increase the RPM is to reduce the ad units that appear on our blog. For example, if you previously installed three ad units, then to increase the RPM you have to turn it into one or two.

The consequences of reducing these ads, you income will go down, but the RPM increases.
Another way to increase the RPM is to bring organic traffic or do block the irrelevant ads appear on our blog.

Channels

Channel is the most powerful feature of AdSense. With the channels we can categorize ads to particular categories.

So what are the benefits channels?

If we put more than one ad unit in AdSense, we will not know the units which ads are most clicked or provide the highest income or at least clicked. But the channel, we can know it all.

How to?

The trick is to include an ad unit that is installed on our blog on a different channel. Example, for posting ads on my input to the channel 'Blogging on the post', my sidebar input to 'Blogging sidebar banner', and after the post to 'Blogging After Post'.
channels

That way, I can see where the best unit effectiveness. This feature will be useful for blogs that have high traffic. Because with channel we can alter the position of the ad unit to search for the most expensive position. As an example of my ad units at the top, was the position before posting the best position.

AdSense Optimization Tips
Few tips from me, when you do A / B testing, make sure you to comment on the changes that you did. Do this by pressing the icon's comments, then click on the date of the change.
AO

Tip Another optimization is through the scorecard. Notice what the scorecard give tips, if you have not been up socre, then maximizing the score by following the tips given AdSense.

scorecard

In AdSense scorecard, there are three assessments, the first is revenue optimization, Site-health, and a multi-screen.

To increase revenue optimization score is easy enough, we just need to activate the contextual and banner ads on AdSense ad units. For Site-health and a multi-screen deal with hosting and themes that we use. The faster a nice blog and hosting will be influential on Site-health, while the multi-screen is how the blog layout to adapt to all types of monitors.

I think I've pretty clearly explain the terms contained in the Google AdSense, if you still feel do not understand, please comment....
